Bluffton Village Festival: May 2012

Bluffton Village Festival 2012

May 2012

Calhoun Street, Bluffton SC

Weather is warming in beautiful South Carolina, and that means festivals! The Bluffton Village Festival proved to be a great event with over 15,000 visitors in my small hometown. Amidst the sounds of blues bands and funnel cake aromas, I sat painting and observing the people of the day. It was an excellent opportunity as an artist to carry on an open conversation about my art. The more we are able to open ourselves up to public criticism, the more we grow. This year has brought much growth and artistic development for me.

Go Fish!

A new series of fish painted with a palette knife. Mahi (above) and Redfish (below) are the types of fish that I have been exploring in different color ways. Mahi are magically fluorescent when they come out of the water. Redfish come in such an array of colors. Both of these species are integral to the waterways of SC....EAT LOTSA FISH!

Chickens! A year ago we decided to buy some chickens and have a go at harvesting our own eggs. For certain, it will be impossible to back to a store bought egg. Also for certain, the early morning crow of the roosters is something I could do with out. Depicted here is "Little Red" (top) and "Clancy" (below).
