Hanging out at Scotts

This is the first of series of paintings I want to do that will depict "Sarge." Sarge was a Bluffton native who I remember vividly from my childhood. He could always be found walking and talking around town. So typical of Sarge, he is leaning into someone's car window in front of the old Scott's Meats.

Abstracting Crabs

I have been looking at alot of different artists' interpretations of crabs lately, and was inspired to break out from my standard. In this painting I used sculpting tools to create layers of texture. This is a first go at something new. The way the colors overlap each other is what makes this interesting.

February Creations

February has been cold, and I have been inside painting! Cows are one of my favorite animals. They lend themselves to being painted. I have also been fixated on these long cavases I found that are perfect for fish. I have painted local species such as Spotted trout, Hog Snapper, and Mahi. They make great gifts for guys!

Yellow Crab Series

Yellow is one of the hardest colors for me to get right...so I decided I should start to use it more. I love the way these crabs include so many different colors, and really pop out.

November

Things are cooling down finally, and I can get back on the porch and paint in the fresh air! This is the second version of Dancing Shrimp I have painted this month. I enjoy the repetition of the lines in the shrimps' bodies. Thier shapes is almost as if they were meant to be dancing.

Bluffton Seafood Festival

5th Annual Bluffton Seafood Festival! Many came out to celebrate the bounty of the May River, and enjoy original artwork from over 100 artists. After some travel out on the west coast I came back to Bluffton with a renewed sense of energy. These shrimp reflect that energy in the loose and flowing lines. The colors I used are vibrant and fresh.

Marsh Scene

Today I finished my first painting of the marshes that I have grown up with my entire life. This is my interpretation of the fall marshes, and the gold leaf represents the autumnal sunlight reflecting off of the seagrass.
