Two more new things!

Gone

New Works 2/13/11

It's been a while since I have posted any of artwork. Painting continues to be part of my life, but I have had too many distractions as of late. Most of my latest pieces have been commissioned for specific purposes. I admit, I am a bit commercial...but painting is still my release.
Oyster in the Blue
You Are My Sunshine, for Eva's nursery
Fun on the Banks of Tybee, for my cousin's twins' nursery
In the Roost, commissioned for a present
Full Strut, commissioned for Frank Hodge

Turkey painted for my brother Palmer's Father's Day gift.....this makes a great present for any sportsman!

This is the second painting of a series of abstract crabs that are inspired by New Orleans artist Martin Welch. Using a knife to create texture and variation of light, the crabs emerge from the blue water.

Yellow Crab and Pink Crab

I don't know why, but I seemed to have tightened up on my crabs. A year ago I could barely keep them on the canvas! These last two were different for some reason. Also, I have been toying around with new textures and fading out the background.

Sunday Supper

Completed May 23, 2010 this is definitely a milestone for me. I have always tried to keep my subjects simple and playful, but I think this one shows a development for me as an artist, even if I do it just for fun!
Personally, I consider it my best yet.

Hanging out at Scotts

This is the first of series of paintings I want to do that will depict "Sarge." Sarge was a Bluffton native who I remember vividly from my childhood. He could always be found walking and talking around town. So typical of Sarge, he is leaning into someone's car window in front of the old Scott's Meats.
